    A pesar de los elementos que tienen en común, no se han dedicado muchos trabajos a analizar los puntos de contacto entre Cervantes y Galdós; singularmente, entre El Quijote y las novelas galdosianas. En este artículo, se muestran sus coincidencias en la construcción novelística, así como la transformación creativa que dinamiza el autor de Fortunata y Jacinta en sus narraciones; además de las ineludibles motivaciones estéticas, el ambiente liberal y de afán democratizador del momento hubo de influir decisivamente en la reinterpretación cervantina por parte del célebre autor canario. En todo caso, tanto monta, monta tanto, un genio como otro en la novela moderna.

    Despite the elements they have in common, not much work has been devoted to analyzing the points of contact between Cervantes and Galdós; singularly, between El Quijote and the Galdosian novels. This article shows their coincidences in novelistic construction, as well as the creative transformation that the Fortunata and Jacinta author energizes in their narratives; in addition to the inescapable aesthetic motivations, the liberal and democratizing environment of the moment had to decisively influence the cervantine reinterpretation by the famous author canary. in any case, both Cervantes and Galdós represent the modern geniality novel.
