Resumen de La mudable suficiencia financiera de la Intendencia de Mallorca en el siglo XVIII: entre limitaciones, crisis y guerras

En este trabajo valoramos las limitaciones de la Intendencia de Mallorca durante el siglo XVIII, así como los recursos de los que podía disponer con mayor premura para garantizar la subsistencia de su sistema político-administrativo y de las tropas afincadas en las islas. La dinámica fiscal y la importancia de rentas, como la del real patrimonio, se analizan en diferentes coyunturas, especialmente durante el período de 1744-1751, cuando el papel de las instituciones también fue relevante. Asimismo, veremos la frágil suficiencia financiera de la tesorería insular, que necesitó de inyecciones de caudales para compensar los sobrecostes generados por los incrementos de tropas vinculados a movimientos militares en el Mediterráneo.

In this work, we assess the limitations of the Intendance of Majorca and the resources with which it could count promptly to guarantee the subsistence of both its politicaladministrative system and the troops settled on the islands. Fiscal dynamics and the importance of incomes, such as the real patrimony, are analyzed at different times, especially during the period of 1744-1751, when the role of institutions was also relevant. Likewise, we´ll see the fragility of the financial sufficiency of the insular treasury, that required of punctual shipments of money to compensate the extra costs generated by the increase of troops linked to the militarymovements in the Mediterranean.
