    En 1904, se inició la edificación del nuevo Teatro Nacional de la Ciudad de México. Para la ornamentación del recinto que hoy se conoce como Palacio de Bellas Artes, el arquitecto Adamo Boari, encargado del diseño y la obra del edificio, solicitó la colaboración de varios artistas, entre ellos la del húngaro Géza Maróti. Maróti diseñó varias obras para el teatro, una de estas es el mural del arco del proscenio de la sala principal. En los numerosos textos que se le han dedicado al Palacio de Bellas Artes la información sobre el mural de Maróti suele ser escasa. En este trabajo busco ofrecer una descripción más precisa del mural y una lectura del mismo.

    In 1904, the construction of the new National Theater in Mexico City began. For the decoration of the enclosure that today is known as the Palace of Fine Arts, the architect Adamo Boari, in charge of the design and work of the building, requested the collaboration of several artists, including that of the Hungarian Géza Maróti. Maróti designed several works for the theater, one of which is the proscenium arch mural in the main hall. In the many texts that have been dedicated to the Palace of Fine Arts, information about the Maróti mural is usually scarce. In this work I seek to offer a more precise description of the mural and a reading of it.
