    This present note intends to discuss some goals and hypotheses of the masters research “In Ceará against the Empire: Pinto Madeira’s revolt (1831-1834)”. We propose to make a short balance of the historiographic production about the episode and to discuss the possibility of thinking the revolt in connection with the violent construction of the national State of Brazil.

    A presente nota pretende discutir alguns objetivos e hipóteses da pesquisa de mestrado, “No Ceará contra o Império: a revolta de Pinto Madeira (1831-1834)”. Propomos discutir a possiblidade de pensarmos a revolta em concatenação com a construção violenta do Estado nacional no Brasil.
