  • Resumen
    • Since his arrival to Alicante in 1903, Daniel Jiménez de Cisneros carried out hundreds of scientific trips visiting most of the province. His main purpose was the stratigraphic characterization of its geological rock units. As a result, he published a many work where his interest in mineralogy and mining was obvious. He described the state of the mining exploitations when he visited them as well as all mineralizations which he discovered during his trips. His work has been the main reference used for decades by many authors in order to describe the mineralogy of the province due to the fact that recent work adding relevant new information to those by Jiménez de Cisneros has been very scarce. Nevertheless, his contribution to the mineralogy and mining of Alicante has not been fairly appreciated since his work was scattered within the huge amount of information of a geological and paleontological character of his work.
