    En EE.UU. tanto el Congreso como los gobiernos de los Estados han adoptado numerosas disposiciones financieramente ambiciosas para hacer frente al desafío sanitario sin precedentes que ha representado el coronavirus. Sin embargo, estas medidas han resultado insuficientes para garantizar una mínima cobertura asistencial médica a todos los ciudadanos y evitar que el impacto de la pandemia haya resultado proporcionalmente muy superior en los grupos más vulnerables. Las consecuencias de un sistema de salud estructuralmente desigual en el acceso a la atención sanitaria, fundamentalmente vinculado al empleo y poco uniformizado territorialmente, han quedado dramáticamente acentuadas en el contexto de la crisis.

    In the U.S. both the Congress and the State governments have adopted financially ambitious measures to address the unprecedented health crisis created by COVID-19 (coronavirus). Yet such measures have been insufficient to grant both a minimum level of healthcare assistance to all citizens and to prevent the impact of the pandemic being proportionally much greater for the country’s most vulnerable citizens. The consequences of structural inequalities in the healthcare system, linked to employment, and the absence of territorial uniformity across States, have been dramatically accentuated in the context of this crisis.
