  • The paper will begin by a presentation of the 1984 legal text allowing in my country the creation of public interest cooperatives, also called “regies cooperatives”.

    I will afterwards develop the European cooperative doctrine on “regies cooperatives”.

    The third part includes some facts on public interest cooperatives created under that regime.

    Finally, I will confront the cooperative doctrine and the Portuguese law and look to this type of cooperative under the recent writings referring to cooperative hybrids
