La antroponimia en el manga posee una función caracterizadora, dotando a personajes ficticios con nombres portadores de un significado profundo que a menudo refuerzan su personalidad, e implicando al lector en la historia. El presente artículo ilustra algunos de estos mecanismos caracterizadores presentes en el manga Sailor Moon, así como los distintos acercamientos presentes en sus dos traducciones oficiales al castellano junto con una reflexión sobre su recepción por parte de la comunidad de aficionados.

Anthroponymy has a characterizing function in manga, providing fictional characters with names containing a profound meaning that reinforce their personalities and engage the reader in the story. This paper analyzes and illustrates some of these characterizing mechanisms in manga Sailor Moon, as well as the different approaches present in its both official translations into Spanish, along with a brief reflection regarding its reception among the fan community.
