    El texto recorre la historia urbana de Veliky Novgorod, una de las ciudades más antiguas de Rusia, para entender la posición y la importancia del nuevo Teatro Dramático Fiodor Dostoievski. El edificio, inaugurado sólo cuatro años antes de la desaparición de la URSS, domina el frente fluvial del rio Volkhov, y lo caracteriza una arquitectura interesante del postmodernismo socialista. La relación con el contexto, las referencias a la arquitectura histórica, así como la proximidad –física y visual– de los puntos significativos de la ciudad dan pistas para entender el origen de las formas del teatro, a veces citado entre los ejemplos de la arquitectura ‘Cósmica’ de la URSS de los años ochenta.

    The text traces the urban history of Veliky Novgorod, one of the oldest cities in Russia to understand the position and importance of the new Fyodor Dostoevsky Drama Theatre. The building, inaugurated only 4 years before the disappearance of the USSR, dominates the river front of the Volkhov River and is characterized by an interesting architecture of socialist post-modernism. The relationship with the context, the references to historical architecture, as well as the proximity -physical and visual- of the significant points of the city give clues to understand the origin of the forms of the theatre sometimes quoted among the examples of the "Soviet Cosmic architecture" of the 1980s.
