    En el yacimiento sevillano de Alhonoz, a finales de los años 70, se excavaron 12 estancias de planta rectangular, que se interpretaron inicialmente como pertenecientes a diferentes viviendas. Posteriormente se ha propuesto que la mayoría de estas habitaciones pertenecerían a un único edificio, de grandes dimensiones, posiblemente la residencia de un personaje de la élite local.

    La falta de descripciones detalladas sobre estos restos arquitectónicos nos priva de una importante fuente de información sobre la funcionalidad y significado de estos espacios construidos. Por todo ello creemos que es necesario adoptar un nuevo enfoque en el estudio e interpretación de los mismos. En nuestro trabajo analizamos estos restos constructivos desde una nueva perspectiva metodológica, basada en la sintaxis espacial, ya que nuestro objetivo es ir más allá del análisis formal y funcional de los restos constructivos e intentar comprender las relaciones sociales de grupo humano que los diseñó y construyó.

    At the archaeological site in Alhonoz (Seville) 12 rooms were excavated in the late 1970s. At first, they were considered as part of different dwellings. Later on, most of these rooms were believed to belong to one single large building, which could be the home of the local aristocracy.

    The lack of detailed descriptions of these architectural remains deprives us of an important source of information about the use and meaning of these constructions. As a result, we believe it is necessary to adopt a new approach to the study and interpretation of these spaces. In this work we analyse these archaeological remains from a new methodological perspective, based on Space Syntax. Our main aim is to go beyond the formal and functional analysis and try to fully understand the social relations of the human beings that designed and built them.
