Las primeras capillas, iglesias y parroquias del Campo de Montiel nacieron a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XIII, vinculadas a las antiguas fortalezas que la Orden de Santiago había reconquistado a los musulmanes, con un marcado carácter militar propio de los primeros momentos de la repoblación.

The first chapels, churches and parishes in the territory of Montiel were born from the second half of the thirteenth century, linked to the ancient fortresses that the Order of Santiago had reconquered by the muslims, with a strong own military character of the first moments of the repopulation.
