    Las guerras civiles que asolaron Castilla en el siglo XV, provocaron una revitalización de las fortalezas del Campo de Montiel. Los castillos fueron reparados y sus guarniciones reforzadas, recuperando su operatividad y ejerciendo un papel importante en el conflicto. La pacificación conseguida por los Reyes Católicos y la subordinación de las Órdenes Militares a la Corona, hicieron innecesarios estos espacios defensivos, provocando su lento y continuo declive.

    The civil wars ravaged Castilla in the XV century, producing the Campo de Montiel’s strongholds’ revitalization. The castles were repaired and his guards reinforced, recovering their activity and playing an important role in the conflict. The Catholic Monarchs’ pacification and the Military Orders’ subordination to the Crown, which left useless castles, were the causes of their slow and constant decline.
