This paper focuses on relationship between public libraries and their collections during the Covid-19 emergency and it is articulated in two sections: the first describes the strategies for the collection development and management that the Italian public libraries have adopted during the forced closure; the second one, starting from this experience, offers element of reflections from which to restart in the work of collection development and management during the phase of gradual reopening and also when the health emergency will be over.
