    CulturalNature Arga#4 explores and questions the relationships between an intimate analogue image and an image of synthesis, a result of an algorithmic manipulation. The drawing assumes a main role in the production of these images leading, at a more concrete level, to questioning the relationships between an analogue and digital drawing. The landscape of “Serra de Arga”, in the north of Portugal (Caminha), and its interpretation —in this game of oppositions between analogue/digital, private/public, exploratory/expositive—, assumes itself as a cultural construction, particular and individual, of a certain piece of land where the frontiers of similarity dissolve to give place to an emotional and internal expression of the author. The installation consists of a series of charcoal drawings that were done by direct observation of the landscape. Then an algorithm, created in Processing, makes an interpretation of those drawings and generates digital drawings that are a result of that interpretation.

    CulturalNature Arga#4 explora e questiona relações entre uma imagem analógica, íntima e exploratória, e uma imagem de síntese, resultante de uma manipulação algorítmica. Estas imagens inserem-se no âmbito do desenho e, neste sentido, o desenho analógico e digital são colocados em oposição evidenciando contrastes e complementaridades. A paisagem da Serra de Arga, no norte de Portugal (Caminha), e a sua interpretação —neste jogo de oposições entre o analógico/digital, exploratório/expositivo, privado/público—, é assumida enquanto construção cultural, particular e individual, de um excerto de um território onde as fronteiras da verossimilhança dissolvem-se para dar lugar a uma expressão interna e emocional do autor. A instalação consiste numa série de desenhos de observação da paisagem em causa. Posteriormente, através de um algoritmo produzido em ambiente “Processing”, é feita uma interpretação destes desenhos analógicos terminando na produção de um desenho digital generativo.
