    El artículo hace una breve descripción de la Biblioteca General de la Universidad de Salamanca: su creación, su ubicación y, sobre todo, sus fondos anteriores al siglo XVIII en lengua italiana. L a Biblioteca General de la Universidad de Salamanca tenía que atender a las necesidades de todas las ramas de conocimiento que formaban parte de los estudios de la Universidad, de ahí su transversalidad. Partiendo de este principio de transversalidad, he querido detenerme en este trabajo en un autor muy apreciado en Italia y en España durante el siglo XVII, Virgilio Malvezzi, un autor que obtuvo gran éxito en Italia, en España y en toda Europa en el siglo XVII. Escribe literatura política y se le considera el introductor del estilo lacónico en España.

    The article gives a brief description of the General Library of the University of Salamanca: its creation, its location and, above all, its funds prior to the 18th century in the Italian language. The General Library of the University of Salamanca had to attend to the needs of all branches of knowledge that were part of the University’s studies, hence its transversality. Starting from this principle of transversality, I wanted to stop in this work in a very appreciated author in Italy and Spain during the seventeenth century, Virgilio Malvezzi, an author who achieved great success in Italy, Spain and throughout Europe in the seventeenth century. He writes political literature and is considered the introducer of the laconic style in Spain
