Resumen de L'hospital del Rei, o militar, a Girona: Dades procedents dels manuals d'acords (1653-1694)

  The article analyzes the process of establishing a military hospital in Girona between 1653 and 1694. During this time, Girona was the spearhead of the Spanish defensive system against an increasingly aggressive French monarchy. The fortification of Girona and the establishment of a garrison were some of the consequences of having the front so close. Another was the establishment of a military hospital, where in the terminology of the time, a hospital of the King. The first known spaces that were used as a health establishment were the convent of Sant Agustíne, shortly afterto occupying the convent of La Mercè, and finally, the hospital of Santa Caterina. Around 676 there is already evidence of the existence of a specific military hospital for soldiers. However, when the need of beds were triggered by war strikes, the convents of Sant Agustíne and la Mercè, mainly the latter, some of the of Santa Caterina hospital had to be occupied again.   L'article analitza el procés d'establir un hospital militar a Girona entre el 1653 i el 1694. durant aquest temps, Girona era la punta de llança del sistema defensiu espanyol enfront d'una monarquia francesa cada cop més agressiva. La fortificació de Girona i l'establiment d'una guarnició foren unes de les conseqüències de tenir el front tan a prop .Una altra fou l'establiment d'un hospital militar, on en terminologia de l'època , un hospital del Rei. Els primers espais coneguts que es feren servir com a establiment sanitari foren el convent de Sant Agustí, per, poc desprès, ocupar el convent de la Mercè , i per últim, l'hospital de Santa Caterina. Entorn de 676 ja hi ha constància de l'existència d'un hospital militar específic per als soldats. Tanmateix, quan es disparaven les necessitats de llits pels avatars bèl·lics, calgué de nou ocupar els convents de Sant Agustí i de la Mercè, principalment aquest últim, i part de l'hospital de Santa Caterina. Alternativament, en moments d'extrema necessitat també es feren servir determinats quarters, amb la problemàtica afegida d'haver de reubicar els soldats que s'hi allotjaven
