  • Resumen
    • Charisma is defined by Merriam-Webster as a personal magic of leadership arousing special popular loyalty or enthusiasm for a public figure. J.W. Marriott, Jr. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Marriott International, Inc., is an outstanding example. His leadership spans nearly 50 years and has taken Marriott from a family restaurant business to a global lodging company in 70 countries. The formula for Marriott's success focuses on always taking care of the guest, developing a highly skilled and diverse workforce and the creation of extensive operational knowledge. In this narrative, the authors provide insights about J.W. “Bill” Marriott, Jr., his personal leadership and his life-long quest for the “Spirit to Serve”. The final section includes personal commentaries about Bill's hands-on management style and the culture he fostered at Marriott International, Inc.
