Dolor de espalda, factores de riesgo de recurrencia y abordaje terapéutico

    La localización más frecuente del dolor de espalda es a nivel lumbar, «lumbalgia». Se trata de una patología muy frecuente, que actualmente es la primera causa de incapacidad laboral en España. Además, la lumbalgia representa una parte importante del gasto sanitario. Si no se trata en la fase aguda de forma efectiva y rápida, la lesión puede recidivar e incluso cronificarse, comprometiendo de esta forma la eficacia del tratamiento. Habitualmente el tratamiento de elección de la lumbalgia son los antiinflamatorios no esteroideos, entre los cuales destaca el ibuprofeno y su asociación con arginina. En este artículo se pretende revisar la eficacia y seguridad del ibuprofeno y las características farmacocinéticas diferenciales de la asociación ibuprofeno-arginina.

    The most frequent location of back pain is at the lumbar level, “low back pain”. It is a very frequent pathology, being currently the leading cause of disability for work in Spain. Also, low back pain is an important part of economic burden to the healthcare system. If it is not effectively and quickly treated in the acute phase, the lesion may relapse and even become chronic, thus compromising the efficacy of the treatment. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are the treatment of choice for low back pain, among which ibuprofen and its as-sociation with arginine stand out. This article aims to review the efficacy and safety of ibuprofen and the differential pharmacokinetic characteristics of the ibuprofen-arginine association.
