    Kwame Nkrumah is one of the most important figures in contemporary political and intellectual history. He led his coun-try to independence, was a decisive actor in the independence of other African colonies, and is recognised as the main ideologue of the Pan-Africanism movement. Despite the failure of his proposals in 1963, when the Organisation of African Unity was being found-ed, in the year 2002 the foundation of the African Union recovered many of the intuitions of this activist and thinker. Now his figure acquires a new relevance in the 110th anniversary of his birth.

    Kwame Nkrumah és un dels personatges més importants de la història política i intel·lectual contemporànies. Va conduir el seu país a la independència, va ser un actor determinant en la independència de les altres colònies africanes i se’l reconeix com el gran ideòleg del moviment panafricà. Malgrat el fracàs de les seves propostes el 1963, quan es creava l’Organització de la Unitat Africana, la fundació de la Unió Africana el 2002 recupera gran part de les intuïcions d’aquest activista i pensador. Ara la seva figura adquireix un nou relleu en complir-se 110 anys del seu naixement.
