Resumen de How many good florins for fine silver? And the gold-silver ratio in Brabant at the junction of the 15th and 16th c.

Willy Geets

  • The characterization of silver metal referred to as ‘cendree silver’ used at the Antwerp mint in the 15th-16th centuries is a technical issue that is still incompletely solved. This contribution aims to shed some more light on this type of silver purchased with gold in Central Europe, by relatingthe data taken from a fully documented dispute between traders and ?eneral mintmasters in the Low Countries and confronting it with available data from the latters’ accounts
