    Frederick Thurston fue uno de los clarinetistas ingleses más influyentes en la historia musical de Inglaterra durante la primera mitad del siglo XX. En su carrera profesional destacó como profesor y pedagogo, músico de orquesta, de cámara y además influyó en los compositores más importantes de la época en el Reino Unido. Entre sus trabajos metodológicos se hallan The Clarinet. A comprehensive method for the Boehm Clarinet y Clarinet Technique. A pesar de su corta vida estrenó un vasto número de obras, entre otras, algunas compuestas para él. Asimismo, dejó un legado de clarinetistas reconocidos, entre los que se encuentran Gervase de Peyer, Pamela Weston, Sir Colin Davis, Colin Bradbury y Dame Thea King.

    Frederick Thurston was one of the most influential clarinetist in the music history of England during the first half of the twentieth century. Throughout his professional career he was a professor and a pedagogue, chamber music specialist and orchestral player. Furthermore he was known to have influenced the most important English composers of his time. His tutor works include The Clarinet. A Comprehensive Method for the Boehm Clarinet and Clarinet Technique. In spite of his very short life, he premiered a large number of works, among them some dedicated to him. In addition, his pedagogy produced a heritage of well known clarinetists, such as Gervase de Peyer, Pamela Weston, Sir Colin Davis, Colin Bradbury and Dame Thea King.
