¿Qué piensan nuestros pacientes sobre la figura de la enfermera referente?

    Introducción: La personalización de los cuidados es una expectativa de los usuarios del Sistema Sanitario Público Andaluz. Los objetivos de este trabajo son: conocer el grado de implantación de la figura de la enfermera referente en una Unidad de hospitalización de Traumatología; conocer la opinión de los pacientes sobre dicha figura y sobre la relación terapéutica que se establece en este modelo de prestación de cuidados.

    Material y método: Se realizó una entrevista semiestructurada a 215 pacientes hospitalizados en la Unidad de Cirugía Ortopédica y Traumatología, entre julio y agosto del 2007. Se analizaron sus respuestas.

    Resultados: Mostramos el análisis cuantitativo de las respuestas a las preguntas cerradas formuladas al inicio de la entrevista y el análisis cualitativo de los datos obtenidos durante la conversación guiada realizada posteriormente.

    Discusión: Entre el 2006 y el primer semestre del 2007 la implantación de la enfermera referente y el conocimiento de la misma experimentó un auge importante en la Unidad. La mayoría de nuestros usuarios consideraron positivo que un enfermero se responsabilizara de planificar sus cuidados durante su estancia en el hospital y manifestaron una gran preocupación por la continuidad de cuidados interniveles. Otros aspectos que despertaron el interés de nuestros pacientes fueron: las funciones de la enfermera referente y los criterios de asignación.

    Conclusiones: Se evidencia un aumento de satisfacción de la conexión terapéutica que se establece entre enfermera-paciente en los usuarios que conocen el modelo de personalización de los cuidados. En cambio, la difusión de la figura de la enfermera referente aún no ha alcanzado los niveles deseables.

    Introduction: The personalised nursing care is something the users of the Andalusian Public Health System eagerly expect. The objectives of this research study are: to know the primary nurse's degree of implantation in the Traumatology hospital environment; to know the patients' opinion about this figure and the therapeutic relationship that is set up in this model of nursing services.

    Material and method: A semistructured interview was made to 215 hospitalized patients in the Orthopaedic surgery and Traumatology surgery Unit between July and August in 2007. Their answers were analyzed.

    Results: We show the quantitative analysis of the answers to the closed questions formulated in the beginning of the interview and the qualitative analysis of the information obtained during the guided conversation realized later.

    Discussion: Between 2006 and the first semester of 2007 the introduction of the primary nurse and the patients' awareness of her presence experienced an important success in the hospitalization unit. The majority of our users considered positive a nurse's having charge of planning their care during their stay in hospital. Other aspects that took our patients´ interest were: the functions of the primary nurse and the allocation criteria.

    Conclusions: The users who know the model of customization of care are much more satisfied with the nurse-patient therapeutic connection according to our research. On the other hand, the spreading of the primary nurse figure has not reached the desirable levels yet.
