En este ensayo, se analizan algunas interpretaciones y prácticas en torno a las cartas intercambiadas entre la población local y burócratas, políticos y ciudadanos de una comuna-sitio de investigación en Chile. Además, se analizan 170 cartas recibidas por un concejal en que los vecinos solicitan favores. La tesis principal invita a observar las cartas como artefactos culturales útiles para estudiar el poder y las representaciones sociales alrededor de la expectativa sobre el tratamiento de necesidades sociales dentro del Estado en este país

In this essay, some interpretations and practices are analyzed around the letters exchanged between the local population and bureaucrats, politicians and citizens of a commune-research site in Chile. In addition, 170 letters received by a councillor in which neighbours request favours are analyzed. The main thesis invites to observe the letters as useful cultural artefacts to study the power and the social representations around the expectation about the treatment of social needs within the state in this country
