    El proceso de democratización inaugurado por el primer gobierno de la Con- certación (1990-1994), movilizó diversos mecanismos para la preservación del poder político, impulsando una serie de prácticas represivas tendientes a ‘in- munizar’ el proceso transicional. Tal fue el caso de la izquierda revolucionaria, desarticulada bajo la premisa de la mantención de la estabilidad democrática y la lucha contra el terrorismo.

    En el marco de estas prácticas, el siguiente artículo analiza los sucesos ocu- rridos el 21 de octubre de 1993 conocidos como La Masacre de Apoquindo. De su análisis, se concluye que los hechos de Apoquindo reflejan el rostro oculto que adquirió la gubernamentalidad transicional, permitiendo visibilizar las rupturas y continuidades presentes en el Chile postdictatorial y su inserción en un campo de disputa por los significados que ha adquirido la Transición democrática.

    The process of the democratization opened by the first government of the Concertacion (1990-1994) mobilized several mechanisms for the preservation of the authority, promoting a series of repressive actions that tended to immunize the transitional process. That was the case of the revolutionary left, disarticulated under the premise of the preservation of the democratic stability and the fight against terrorism.

    Within the framework of this practices, this paper analyzes the events occurred on October 21st, 1993, known as La Masacre de Apoquindo (The Apoquindo Slaughter). From the analysis, it concludes that the events of Apoquindo reflects the hidden face that the transitional government acquired, allowing to show the ruptures and continuities that are present in postdictatorial Chile, and it insertion in a field of dispute for the meanings that the transition to democracy has recently acquired.
