  • Resumen
    • Chronic opioid therapy may be appropriate as part of a comprehensive pain management plan for persons with chronic pain. The risk-benefit ratio should be discussed and weighed on an ongoing basis to determine a monitoring and safety plan. Managing chronic opioid therapy can be accomplished safely and in concordance with guidelines, through a team-based approach. A comprehensive monitoring plan includes a goal-oriented and safety-based treatment agreement.
