Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is highly prevalent in those with opioid use disorders (OUD) and injustice-involved populations.
The data on the effect of medication treatments for OUD (MOUD eg, methadone, buprenorphine, extended-release naltrexone) on HCV incidence in prisons and jails are limited.
MOUD effect on HCV incidence in prisons and jails was mixed in part due to the variability in each individual risk environment, suggesting the need for additional harm reduction such as syringe service programs
