In this paper some new developments in distributed educational computing in several USA higher educational institutions are considered, including Athena (MIT), Andrew (Carnegie Mellon), Intermedia (Brown), The Electronic University Network, the Electronic International Executive Forum at the Western Behavioural Sciences Institute and work at the University of Irvine, California. The paper concludes with a discussion of the educational potential of these innovations.
