    En 1956 llegó D.ª Matilde Martínez al Instituto Laboral de Almendralejo, donde llevó a cabo, en los años sesenta, dos investigaciones sobre “El habla de Almendralejo” y “El folklore de Almendralejo”. Ese mismo año llegó al Instituto Laboral de Don Benito, Dª Isabel Hernández González, quien preparó una investigación sobre “El habla de Don Benito”. Y dos años antes, en 1954, llegó al Instituto Laboral de Villanueva de la Serena, don Sebastián Morales Jiménez, quien realizó dos investigaciones sobre “El habla de Villanueva” y “El folklore de Villanueva”. Los tres profesores habían nacido fuera de Extremadura, los tres habían cursado también Magisterio, los tres fueron profesores en los Institutos Laborales de lo que se denominaba “Ciclo de Lenguas” y los tres realizaron unos trabajos de gran calidad sobre los mismos temas. Pues bien, en esta comunicación intentaremos explicar qué motivos les llevó a investigar el habla y el folklore de las localidades donde trabajaban y qué ha sido de aquellos trabajos.

    In 1956 Ms. Matilde Martínez arrived at the Laboral Institute of Almendralejo, where in the sixties, she carried out two researches on “Almendralejo's speech” and “Almendralejo's folklore”. That same year arrived at the Laboral Institute of Don Benito, Ms. Isabel Hernández Gómez, who prepared an investigation on “Don Benito’s speech”. Two years ago, in 1954, Mrs. Sebastián Morales Jiménez arrived at the Laboral Institute of Villanueva de la Serena, who carried out two researches on “Villanueva's speech” and “Villanueva's folklore”. The three professors were born outside Extremadura, the three had also studied Teaching, as well as being professors in the Labor Institutes of what was called “Cycle of Languages” and the three carried out some works of great quality on the same subjects. In this communication we will try to explain what led them to investigate the speech and folklore of the localities where they worked and what has become of those works.
