El presente artículo se centra en la figura de Francisco Alejandro Fernel, un polifacético personaje que formó parte del grupo de traductores que brilló en Andalucía en la primera mitad del siglo XIX. El objetivo principal de nuestro trabajo es, en primer lugar, realizar una semblanza biográfica de Fernel que nos ayude a conocer datos que permitan entender sus intereses en el ámbito de la traducción y el contexto en el que la llevó a cabo. En segundo lugar, nos centraremos en el análisis de las traducciones de las que tenemos noticia para justificar la importancia de su figura en el panorama de la traducción decimonónica en España.

This article focuses on the figure of Francisco Alejandro Fernel, a versatile character who was part of the group of translators that shone in Andalusia the first half of the nineteenth century. The main objective of our work is, first of all, to make a biographical sketch of Fernel that will help us to know data that allow us to understand their interests in the field of translation and the context in which it was carried out. Secondly, we will focus on the analysis of the translations we know to justify the importance of his figure in the situation of nineteenth-century translation in Spain.
