    En este texto se realizará una aproximación a la situación actual de los Balcanes Occidentales en su perspectiva europea. Así, en sus dos primeros apartados se planteará el contexto general de la UE en relación con esta región, las propuestas sobre el cambio de metodología de la política de ampliación y el debate en torno a ellas. También se expondrán los retos a los que se enfrenta el alto representante de la UE en relación con la situación actual de bloqueo en los Balcanes y a la necesidad de la UE de ganar credibilidad en la región. Finalmente, se abordará la necesidad de una estrategia española autónoma en los Balcanes que permita dar coherencia a las posiciones políticas y técnicas que se vayan adoptando en el marco de la UE, y para dar un mayor y mejor impulso a las relaciones bilaterales con estos países, donde España es percibida de manera muy positiva.

    An approach to the current situation of the Western Balkans in their European perspective will be made in this text. Thus, in its first two sections, the general context of the EU in relation to this region, the proposals regarding the change in the methodology of the enlargement policy and the debate around them will be raised. The challenges facing the EU High Representative in relation to the current blockade situation in the Balkans and the need for the EU to gain credibility in the region will also be exposed.

    Finally, the need for an autonomous Spanish strategy in the Balkans that allows coherence to the political and technical positions that are adopted within the EU framework, and to give greater and better momentum to bilateral relations with these countries will be addressed, where Spain is perceived in a very positive way.
