La crisis económica causada por la COVID-19, sumada a la situación económica europea anterior a la misma, en la que la mayoría de las fuerzas aéreas europeas habían ya sufrido fuertes reducciones en sus presupuestos anuales, muestra la utilidad de compartir las capacidades de defensa entre todos los Estados miembros de la UE.
Este artículo versa sobre la potenciación de la cooperación aérea militar entre estos países, en aras del desarrollo de la Política Común de Seguridad y Defensa (PCSD) y en términos más generales de la Política Exterior y de Seguridad Común (PESC). Se centra en la compartición de capacidades de transporte aéreo a nivel europeo, fomentando iniciativas tipo pooling and sharing, que puedan ser integradas en la PCSD, ratificando así la voluntad política expresada por la UE.

The economic crisis caused by COVID-19, added to the previous European economic situation, in which most of the European air forces had already suffered sharp reductions in their annual budgets, shows the usefulness of sharing defence capabilities among all the EU Member States.
This article deals with the strengthening of military air cooperation between these countries, in the interest of developing the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) and more extensively the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP). It focuses on the sharing of air transport capabilities at the European level, promoting and enhancing “pooling and sharing” type initiatives which could be integrated into the CSDP, thus ratifying the political will expressed by the EU
