    Es un lugar común el afirmar que de la situación creada por la COVID-19 saldrá un mundo diferente al que conocemos, generalmente para mejor. Se ha identificado el severo impacto de esta pandemia como un motor de cambio que puede facilitar el que, ante este enemigo común, las guerras y los conflictos armados puedan tener un final pacífico. Sin embargo, la experiencia histórica, el impacto real generado y las respuestas al llamamiento al cese de hostilidades realizado por el secretario general de Naciones Unidas, permiten augurar que no será así.

    It is commonplace to affirm that a different world will emerge from the situation created by COVID-19, generally for the better. The severe impact of this pandemic has been identified as an engine of change that may facilitate that in the face of this common enemy, wars and armed conflicts may have a peaceful end. However, the historical experience, the real impact of the pandemic and the reactions to the appeal for a cessation of hostilities made by the Secretary General of the United Nations, suggest that this will not be the case.
