Apuntes sobre el 'De insulis' de Domenico Silvestri: ejemplo de un islario de finales del siglo XIV

    En este artículo hemos querido exponer las noticias que existen sobre la vida y obra del humanista florentino Domenico Silvestri (1335-1411 ?). En concreto, nos hemos centrado en el estudio de su obra más importante, el De insulis et earum proprietatibus, que se ha considerado como el primer Islario (tratado de información propiamente insular aparecido a finales del siglo XIV) hasta la fecha conocido. Por otra parte, hemos elaborado una breve historia del "género insular" desde su aparición en la literatura grecolatina hasta la definitiva formación de los Islarios humanistas.

    With this paper we’ve wanted to expose the notices existed about the life and works of the humanist Domenico Silvestri (1335-1411?). More precisely, we’ve focused our study on his most important work, De insulis et earum proprietatibus, considered as the first Islario (book containing information about islands, from the end of the XIV century) known until now. On the other hand, we’ve made a short history of the «island genre» from his appearance in the Greek and Latin literatures to the definitive formation of the humanist island books.
