    En el siguiente trabajo se desarrollarán las tesis principales del estudio de Jaques Lacan sobre la obra de James Joyce. Se tomará como referencia, principalmente, su seminario de 1975-76 donde se desarrolla el concepto de sinthome. Para esto, se comenzará por exponer el rol de la función paterna en la estructuración de la subjetividad, que será luego problematizada por Lacan en su lectura de la obra del escritor irlandés. Es importante destacar que esta interpretación no intenta realizar un diagnóstico de la vida del autor, sino conceptualizar a la función del arte como producción que permite articular una “carencia de padre” en lo simbólico. Parte de estos desarrollos serán fundamentados desde la topología, ya que el sinthome es introducido como una modificación sustancial en el anudamiento de los tres registros: real, simbólico e imaginario.

    This paper presents the main theses of Jaques Lacan's study of James Joyce's work. The main reference will be his 1975-1976 Seminar where the concept of sinthome is developed. In order to do this, the role of the paternal function in the structuring of subjectivity will be presented, which will later be problematized by Lacan in his reading of the Irish writer’s work. It is important to emphasize that this interpretation does not attempt to make a diagnosis of the author's life, but rather to conceptualize the function of art as a production that allows us to articulate a “lack of father” in the symbolic order. Part of these developments will be based on topology, since the sinthome is introduced as a substantial modification in the knotting of the three registers: real, symbolic and imaginary.

    Die folgende Arbeit wird die wichtigsten Thesen von Jaques Lacans Studie über das Werk von James Joyce entwickeln. Sein Seminar von 1975-76, in dem er den Begriff des Sinthoms entwickelt, wird als Referenz herangezogen. Dazu wird die Rolle der väterlichen Funktion bei der Strukturierung der Subjektivität vorgestellt, die Lacan später bei seiner Lektüre des Werkes des irischen Schriftstellers problematisieren wird. Es ist wichtig, darauf hinzuweisen, dass diese Interpretation nicht versucht, eine Diagnose des Lebens des Autors zu stellen, sondern die Funktion der Kunst als Produktion zu begreifen, die es uns erlaubt, einen "Mangel an Vater" im Symbolischen zu artikulieren. Ein Teil dieser Entwicklungen wird ausgehend von der Topologie begründet, denn das Sinthom wird als wesentliche Änderung in der Verknüpfung der drei Register: real, symbolisch und imaginär eingeführt.
