    El siguiente artículo busca explicar y describir qué es lo que sucede con la imagen corporal y la sexualidad en personas que padecen una enfermedad oncológica. El cáncer es una enfermedad que provoca grandes cambios en la apariencia física, como así también en los tratamientos que se emplean para la misma. Estos cambios significan una gran fuente de estrés para los pacientes que atraviesan esta enfermedad: la capacidad que ellos posean para aceptar y adaptarse a los mismos repercutirán en su estado emocional, en su calidad de vida y en su funcionamiento personal, familiar, laboral y social. Todo esto, a su vez, se relaciona directamente con la sexualidad que experimentan. Son numerosos los factores relacionados con el cáncer que pueden interferir en la vida sexual del paciente y de su pareja. Para poder acompañar en este difícil proceso a estos pacientes son aconsejables intervenciones preventivas basadas en el apoyo emocional y en el consejo psicológico que permitan ayudar al paciente a la aceptación y la adaptación de estos cambios no deseados.

    The following article seeks to explain and describe what happens to body image and sexuality in people suffering from an oncological disease. Cancer is a disease that causes great changes in physical appearance, as well as the treatments that are used for it. These changes represent a great source of stress for patients who are suffering from this disease and the capacity they have to accept and adapt to them will affect their emotional state, quality of life and personal, family, work and social functioning. All this, in turn, is directly related to the sexuality they experience. There are numerous factors related to cancer that can interfere in the sexual life of the patient and his partner. In order to be able to accompany these patients in this difficult process, preventive interventions are adviced, based on emotional support and psychological counsel that allow to help the patient to the acceptance and adaptation of these unwanted changes.

    Der folgende Artikel versucht zu erklären und zu beschreiben, was mit dem Körperbild und der Sexualität bei Menschen mit einer onkologischen Krankheit geschieht. Krebs ist eine Krankheit, die große Veränderungen in der körperlichen Erscheinung verursacht, wie auch die therapeutischen Massnahmen zu seiner Behandlung. Diese Veränderungen bedeuten eine große Stressquelle für die Patienten, die diese Krankheit durchmachen: Die Fähigkeit, sie zu akzeptieren und sich ihnen anzupassen, wird sich auf ihren emotionalen Zustand, ihre Lebensqualität und ihre persönliche, familiäre, berufliche und soziale Funktion auswirken. All dies wiederum steht in direktem Zusammenhang mit der von ihnen erlebten Sexualität. Es gibt zahlreiche krebsbedingte Faktoren, die das Sexualleben des Patienten und seines Partners beeinträchtigen können. Um diese Patienten in diesem schwierigen Prozess zu begleiten, sind präventive Interventionen auf der Basis emotionaler Unterstützung und psychologischer Beratung angeraten, um sie bei der Akzeptanz und der Anpassung an diese unerwünschten Veränderungen zu unterstützen.
