    El presente trabajo se centra en el estudio y análisis del ingreso mínimo vital aprobado recientemente mediante el Real Decreto-ley 20/2020, de 29 de mayo. Así, en una primera parte se hace una breve revisión de los principales hitos que llevaron a nuestro Gobierno al establecimiento de esta nueva prestación no contributiva de nuestro sistema de Seguridad Social. Se trata de establecer el contexto del que partimos, es decir, las altas tasas de pobreza y de exclusión que presenta España con respecto a los países de nuestro entorno. En segundo lugar, se destacan algunas de las críticas y desafíos a los que se enfrenta el ingreso mínimo vital. Retos a los que se deben prestar atención para que este instrumento resulte ser verdaderamente eficaz para reducir los niveles de pobreza en España.

    The present paper focuses in the study and analysis of the recently approved minimum living wage through the Royal Decree-Law 20/2020, on May 29. The first part is a brief review of the main reasons that drove our government to establish this new non-contributory presentation of our Social Security system. This way, we establish the original framework where we expose the initial disadvantaged situation from Spain in terms of poverty and exclusion. The second part features some of the critics and challenges that the minimum living wage faces. Challenges that need to be addressed in order to succeed in the reduction of the poverty level in Spain.
