    El propósito de este artículo es analizar el proceso de construcción de la religión de los antiguos libios como objeto de conocimiento científico. Se trata de un fenómeno que surge de forma paralela a la constitución de la identidad bereber como sujeto histórico, en el contexto de una historiografía colonial que la conceptualizó como una entidad esencial, primitiva y colonizada. Intentaré mostrar cómo los conceptos y las categorías derivados de ese discurso determinaron los contenidos acerca de esas creencias y prácticas religiosas y cuáles han sido los principales problemas metodológicos asociados a ese ejercicio historiográfico. Asimismo, resaltaré cómo los principales problemas no se derivan exclusivamente de la naturaleza y escasez de las fuentes, sino de la autoridad e influencia ejercida por esa narrativa historiográfica.

    The purpose of this article is to analyze the process of construction of the religion of the ancient Libyans as an object of scientific knowledge. This is a phenomenon that emerges in parallel with the formation of the Berber identity as a historical agent, in the context of a colonial historiography that conceptualized it as an essential, primitive and colonized entity. I pretend to show how the concepts and the categories derived from this discourse determined the contents about these religious beliefs and practices; and which have been the main methodological problems associated to this historiographical practice. In addition, I want to underline that some of these problems are not exclusively originated in the nature and scarcity of sources, but of the influence and authority of this historiographical narrative.
