Resumen de Course Evaluation:: a Case Study from Health Sciences
Quality control and accountability are integral parts of modern life, affecting education as much as any other ‘service’ industry. Appraisal of staff and evaluation of courses, which may have been optional and certainly were often informal, are now becoming both formal and essential. Course results give the information as to the outcome of a particular course, but only evaluation can illuminate the process. Evaluation of a course enables those concerned to reflect on the total learning experience, in the context of ‘worthwhileness’. This paper describes how the modular degree course in occupational therapy at Coventry University has developed an evaluation process to consider the ‘worthwhileness’ and relevance of the programme of studies in the context of changing demands in education and health care.
