Resumen de ¿Una economía de la liberación?: La moneda libre de interés, de Silvio Gesell

El trabajo expone los rasgos principales de un sistema monetario sin interés, como el desarrollado por Silvio Gesell en su obra El orden económico natural, que está en la base de los sistemas de monedas comunitarias. Gesell propuso una tasa al atesoramiento de dinero como forma de favorecer la circulación de las mercancías y evitar los ciclos económicos. Se analiza el proceso de inversión en el sistema capitalista y las consecuencias que tendría el establecimiento de dicha tasa sobre la inversión, el consumo, el ahorro y el crecimiento. Finalmente se enumeran algunas experiencias contemporáneas de monedas comunitarias.

Die Arbeit stellt die Hauptzüge des zinslosen Währungssystems vor, das von Silvio Gesell in seinem Hauptwerk El orden económico natural (Die natürliche Wirtschaftsordnung) erarbeitet wurde und das grundlegend ist für lokale Währungssysteme. Gesell schlug eine Besteuerung der Geldanhäufung vor als Form der Begünstigung des Warenumlaufs und der Prävention von wirtschaftlichen Zyklen. Weiter werden der Investitionsprozess im kapitalistischen System und die Auswirkungen diskutiert, die eine solche Besteuerung auf die Investitionen, den Konsum, das Sparen und das Wachstum haben würde. Abschliessend werden einige zeitgenössische Erfahrungen mit lokalen Währungen vorgestellt.

The paper describes the main features of a free-interest monetary system, as developed by Silvio Gesell in his book The Natural Economic Order, which is in the basis of community currencies systems. Gesell has proposed taxing the hoarding of money, a form of boosting the circulation of goods and avoiding economic cycles. The investment process in capitalist system is analyzed, as well as the effects it would have such a fee over some economic variables as investment, consumption, savings and growth. Finally, some contemporary community currencies experiences are mentioned.
