Violencia y sociedad en los Andes. Sobre el uso de violencia por “Sendero Luminoso” (1980-92)

    El movimiento guerrillero peruano ‘Sendero Luminoso’ ha sido uno de los movimientos revolucionarios más violentos en la historia moderna de América Latina. El artículo presenta observaciones y comentarios en lo relativo a los vínculos entre la ideología maoísta de Sendero y el uso de violencia como medio político, y analiza los peligros que puede acarrear la importación de una ideología extraña a los valores sociales y a la historia cultural de sus sujetos –en este caso, a la historia de los pueblos andinos. La tragedia social a la que llevó el senderismo en Perú, y el uso de una violencia dirigida aún hacia grupos sociales que supuestamente eran sujetos de la ‘liberación’ senderista, tienen su raíz y fuente de explicación tanto en la aplicación acrítica de los conceptos de “progreso” y de “modernidad”, como en el menosprecio de la sociedad andina, cuya pobreza era interpretada no como consecuencia de la explotación sino como fruto de una vida arcaica y de una sociedad atrasada.

    Die peruanische Guerrilla-Organisation ‘Sendero Luminoso’ war eine der gewalttätigsten revolutionären Gruppen in der modernen Geschichte Lateinamerikas. Dieser Artikel stellt den Anwendung von Gewaltaktionen als politisches Mittel in Beziehung zur maoistischen Ideologie von Sendero und analysiert die Gefahren, die der Import einer fremden Ideologie in die gesellschaftlichen Werte und die Kulturgeschichte der Personen in sich birgt – in diesem Fall, in die Geschichte der andinen Völker. Der Autor sieht die Wurzeln der sozialen Tragödie die der Senderismus in Peru hervorgerufen hatte, und der Anwendung der sogar gegen jene sozialen Gruppen gerichteten Gewalttätigkeit, die angeblich die Subjekte der Befreiungsaktionen von Sendero waren, sowie den Ansatzpunkt ihrer Erklärung sowohl in der unkritischen Anwendung der Begriffe von Fortschritt und Moderne als auch in der Minderbewertung der andinen Gesellschaft, deren Armut nicht als Folge der Ausbeutung sondern als Frucht eines archaischen Lebens und einer zurückgebliebenen Gesellschaft interpretiert wurden.

    The Peruvian guerilla movement 'Sendero Luminoso' has been one of the most violent revolutionary movements in modern Latin American history. The article presents observations and comments related to the bonds between the Maoist ideology of ‘Sendero’ and the use of violence as a political tool. Besides, it analyzes the dangers that may bring about the importation of an ideology strange to the social values and to the cultural history of its subjects -in this case, to the history of the Andean people. The social tragedy brought about to Peru by senderismo, and the use of violence toward social groups that were apparently subject of the 'Senderist liberation’ has its root and source of explanation not only in the non-critical application of the concepts of "progress" and "modernity" but also in the contempt for the Andean society whose poverty was interpreted not as a consequence of the exploitation but as the result of an archaic life and of a backward society.
