During the 1980s, the integration of dedicated data handling software packages into the teaching of quantitative courses within most institutions increased considerably. Now, in the 1990s, many educationalists may be interested to know just how much use of such packages is actually made by organizations. As part of a survey into the use of statistical techniques within Scottish organizations, various questions were incorporated regarding the use of personal computers, mainframe computers and data handling packages. This paper is a summary of the information gathered.
