The metamorphic basament of the Sierra de San Javier consists of Iow grade metamorphic rocks (green schists facies). A first deformative episode has produccd west verging asimetric folds with axial plane west dipping cleavage (SI). A second event has performed microfolds accompanicd by crenulation cleavage and microduplex structures. The crenulation citaNage (SI) is representcd by microfaults affecüng the original bedding (SO and the first cleavage (SI). In the S2 surfaces a reorientatiõrr —zmicas, disolution and recristalization of oU1ers have been produced. Crenulations are caused by differential displaccmcnts flexuring the mica pamllel to Sr
