  Manuel Garrido Cruz y José Garrido Zamora, padre e hijo, fueron los dos primeros veterinarios de una saga que en la actualidad cuenta con cinco generaciones. Manuel nació en Castro del Río (Córdoba), el 11 de junio de 1864. Muy pronto, marchó a la capital, ingresando como soldado en el arma de Caballería, donde ascendió a ayudante de Albéitar, y posteriormente a Maestro Herrador. Estos conocimientos le fueron muy válidos para, con posterioridad, ingresar en la Escuela Especial de Veterinaria a la edad de 20 años, recibiendo el título de profesor veterinario el 22 de agosto de 1889. Ejerció como veterinario municipal de la capital durante más de 33 años. Fue presidente del Colegio de Veterinarios de la provincia de Córdoba los años 1919 y 1920. José Garrido Zamora, hijo del anterior, comenzó sus estudios en la Escuela de Veterinaria de Córdoba en septiembre de 1907, a la edad de 15 años, obteniendo el título de veterinario el 2 de agosto de 1912. Su labor profesional principal fue la de Inspector Municipal Veterinario, la cual la ejerció durante más de 52 años, si bien, paralelamente mantuvo su clínica veterinaria de grandes y pequeños animales. Experto en el reconocimiento veterinario de toros de lidia. Al igual que su padre, fue presidente del Colegio de Veterinarios de Córdoba, desde 1926 hasta 1928
