  • Resumen
    • The South Pyrenean Foreland Basin is a good case study to develop an accurate model from the relationships between the orogenic growth and the basin evolution. For this purpose the sequential analysis applied to the basin, linked with a sedimentologic, geometric and palaeogeographic view, offer the best tool to know how the orogenic growth influences the basin formation and the nature of sedimentary systems in both, orogenic and foreland margins. The best preservation of the foreland margin architecture, assuming the relationship between these architecture and the orogenic stages of growing due to the direct impact of orogenic growth in foreland margin subsidence, makes their study essential in the sequential analysis. The results of a comparative analysis of the different segments of the South Pyrenean Foreland Basin: South-Eastern Pyrenean Foreland Basin, Tremp-Graus Basin and Jaca Basin, is presented. The analysis show the existence of four main basin sequences of, approximately 5 million years duration, related with the main stages in basin formation. Also, the direct influx of the tectonic regime is reflected in the sedimentation of both, foreland or orogenic, margins. Minor sequences, of approximately 7 to 1,5 million years have their origin clearly related to the tectonic growth.
