Primer registro del Pinzón Piquirrecto (Haplospiza rustica) en el Pacífico de Nicaragua

    Reportamos la expansión del ámbito de distribución del Pinzón Piquirrecto (Haplospiza rustica) para el Pacífico de Nicaragua. Un individuo de esta especie fue capturado con redes de niebla en la Reserva Natural Volcán Mombacho ubicada en la vertiente del Pacífico sur. El hallazgo se dio en Octubre del 2014 durante el periodo de anillamiento mensual de estaciones del Programa de Monitoreo de Supervivencia Invernal (MoSI) que se lleva a cabo en el área de influencia de la Reserva.Por las características del plumaje, el individuo capturado correspondió a un macho adulto, el cual fue anillado y posteriormente liberado Este individuo corresponde al primer registro para esta especie en la vertiente del Pacífico de Nicaragua

    Here, we report the expansion of the distributional range of the Slaty Finch (Haplospiza rustica) to the Pacific slope of Nicaragua. An individual of this species was captured with mist nets in Volcán Mombacho Nature Reserve located in the southern pacific slope. The finding was made in October of 2014 during the monthly bird banding period of the Winter Survival Monitoring Program Station (MoSI) taking place in the area of influence of the Reserve. Considering the plumage characteristics, the captured individual corresponded to an adult male, which was banded and then released. This corresponds to the first record for this species in the Pacific slope of Nicaragua.
