    • A user‐centred evaluation was carried out on a Web site developed to support a traditionally taught course. The students came from an arts course and tended not to be enthusiastic computer users. The site was regarded as highly successful in introducing students to Web‐based educational material. However, with this application there has been little ‘trade off in reducing traditional tutor‐student contact time. The students that were surveyed seemed resistant to moving further along the path to computer‐assisted learning and appeared to be content with what they were familiar with.
