    Este artículo analiza el cuento “Darjeeling” de Las antípodas y el siglo (2001), desde la perspectiva del héroe olvidado y traicionado por la historia oficial, en el marco de las expediciones inglesas en el Tíbet y desde el propio concepto de ‘antípodas’ del volumen. La caracterización del humilde protagonista contrasta con la arrogancia del inglés que lo contrata para una misión. El cuento juzga la historia universal que registra como héroe al traidor. Ignacio Padilla toma de Borges el tópico del traidor, pero, invirtiendo el modelo borgesiano, logra un cuento donde la historia real se impone a la ficción.

    This article analyzes the short-story “Darjeeling” in the Antipodes Stories (2001), from the perspective of the hero forgotten and betrayed by the official history in the context of the English expeditions in Tibet, and from the same concept of ‘antipode’ of the volume. The characterization of the humble protagonist contrasts with the arrogance of the Englishman who hires him for a mission. The story judges the universal history that records the traitor as a hero. Ignacio Padilla takes from Borges the topic of the traitor, but reversing the Borges’ model, Padilla achieves a tale where the true story prevails over the fiction.
