Les Coves del Drac i el turisme a Mallorca: impressions d’un guia de les coves

    The history of the Coves del Drac has gone hand in hand with the evolution of the village of Porto Cristo, having represented a tourist claim of first magnitude especially from the “boom” of tourism that took place in the 60s of the last century. The aforementioned emergence of the mass tourism phenomenon must be considered as the most important factor in the economic boost of the area, so that this coastal village has gone from being a small fishing population (initially named Colònia del Carmen) to being a town that lives almost exclusively on tourism. The tourist attraction of this cave has been present in all dissemination media: from cinema, to the world of songs, through any means of diffusion, among which the postcards edition stands out. In all these media, most of the wonders of the underground world are shown, which can be seen in the amazing visit to the interior of the cave with an incredible fi nal spectacle of light and sound.

    La història de les Coves del Drac ha anat paral·lela a l’evolució del poble de Porto Cristo, havent representat un reclam turístic de primera magnitud especialment des del “boom” del turisme que tingué lloc els anys 60 del segle passat; l’esmentada eclosió del fenomen turístic de masses ha de ser considerada com el factor més important d’empenta econòmica de la zona, de forma que aquesta població costanera ha passat de ser un petit poble de pescadors (inicialment Colònia del Carme) a ser un poble que viu quasi exclusivament del turisme. Aquest reclam turístic ha estat present en tots els àmbits mediàtics:

    des del cinema, al món de la cançó, passant per qualsevol medi de difusió entre els que hi destaquen el món de les postals.

    En tots aquests mitjans s’hi posen de manifest la major part de les meravelles del món subterrani, que es poden observar en l’espectacular visita a l’interior de les coves amb un increïble espectacle final de llum i so.
