Monóculo fotográfico – uma crônica visual

    This research has as object of investigation the images of slide viewers, which, similar to a telescope that holds a slide, have in their interior the photograph in reversible film. Popular between the 1970s and 1990s, these photographs on display devices were commonly produced by street photographers or itinerant photographers. The objective research also understands the structure of production that pervades the object itself, the device, and the relations established during and after its manufacture. The study provides a theoretical contribution regarding the issue of family photography and the constitution of its “visual chronicle”. Through these, the construction of the memories of a certain group is observed, which, together with the analysis of some monocle photographs of my personal collection, allows the verification of the awakening of the visual consciousness that the images impel

    Esta pesquisa tem como objeto de investigação as imagens de monóculos fotográficos, que, semelhantes a uma luneta que guarda um slide, têm em seu interior a fotografia em filme reversível. Populares entre os anos de 1970 e 1990, essas fotografias em dispositivos de visualização eram comumente produzidas pelos fotógrafos de rua ou itinerantes. A pesquisa objetiva também compreender a estrutura de produção que permeia o objeto em si, o dispositivo, e as relações estabelecidas durante e após sua manufatura. O estudo traz um aporte teórico no tocante à questão da fotografia de família e à constituição de sua “crônica visual”. Por meio destas, é observada a construção das memórias de um determinado grupo que, aliado à análise de algumas fotografias de monóculo do meu acervo pessoal, permite a verificação do despertar da consciência visual que as imagens impulsionam.
