Na fuga, uma esperança de liberdade: escravos fugitivos na alagoas provincial

    The present article aims to show some traces of slavery in Alagoas during the second reign. In our analysis we used as sources the newspaper ads with the escapes of slaves occurred in the 1870s, where we identified the strategies developed to escape. The flight was one of the most frequent reactions during the period and Alagoas was a locality marked by the action of the fugitives. Some of these fugues reveal a diversity, because, although habitual, this initiative presented varied contours, where the understanding of the environment in which they were inserted was fundamental aspect for its success. The understanding provided by E.P.

    Thompson's writings serves as an analytical bias for understanding the captives of Alagoas as historical agents, owners of their actions, and who have played crucial roles in the daily slavery in the provincial Alagoas.

    O presente artigo tem por objetivo mostrar alguns traços da escravidão em Alagoas durante o segundo reinado. Em nossa análise, usamos como fontes os anúncios de jornal que notificavam as fugas de escravos ocorridas na década de 1870, em que identificamos as estratégias desenvolvidas para fugir. A fuga foi uma das reações mais frequentes durante o período e Alagoas foi uma localidade marcada pela ação dos fugitivos. Algumas dessas fugas nos revelam uma diversidade, pois, apesar de habitual, essa iniciativa apresentou contornos variados, em que a compreensão do ambiente onde estavam inseridos foi aspecto fundamental para o seu sucesso. A compreensão fornecida pelos escritos de E.P. Thompsom serve de viés analítico para compreendermos os cativos de Alagoas como agentes históricos, donos de suas ações e que exerceram papeis cruciais para o cotidiano escravista na Alagoas provincial
